The organization was established in 1989. It is registered with the Directorate of Social Welfare vide no. Rajshahi 348 in 1989 and NGO Affairs Bureau vide no. 415 in 1990.

Brief Description:

A local NGO, Association for Community Development (ACD) is located in one of the northern districts in the country that is closest to border. It is registered with a number of agencies of the Government. With a considerable age, the organization has also gained considerable programme, beneficiary and geographical coverage. The organization does not have any male beneficiaries for any of its programme except in one programme. Association for Community Development addresses the concerns of the trafficking in and sexual exploitation of women and children. Very considerable number of adult males and females, boys and girls child has been addressed under a single programme that the organization implements in two districts. It does not have adequate physical facility but provides a good number of services against the different categories. The organization could not prioritize the given services. Nor the categories were prioritized but the given services indicate sensitization of the issue plus mobilizing the locally available domestic resources at local level. Another striking indication is that the organization also works with repatriation and rehabilitation of the trafficked women and child. The organization has also mentioned a number of high, low risk and no risk zones among its working areas but the low risk and no risk zones are also within the influences of traffickers because of the distances with the trafficking route. The organization has mentioned two organizations closer to its working areas. Brief Description:

Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts (BITA), a local level NGO is situated in a district of the eastern region in the country. It is registered with a number of agencies of the Government. With a considerable age, the organization implements three programs that address very considerable number of beneficiaries in one district. Considering the number of village the geographical area of the organization is quite significant. The organization is unique, in that, it works with grassroots theatre that enhance the consciousness of the people about their legal and human rights. Among a number of its activities, the organization considers consciousness raising as important through providing education. Bangladesh Institute of Theatre Arts (BITA) has also addressed the concerns of trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and women quite considerably through three programs. The organization implements the programme in two districts addressing a considerable number of beneficiaries. With a very adequate physical facilities the organization also provides a good number of services against three categories. It has prioritized the given services and the categories that indicate that the organization has stressed on consciousness raising and exploring locally available opportunities. The high-risk zones that the organization has mentioned are far away from the trafficking route. It could not name other organizations or agencies working close to its working areas. A network at national level, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) is registered with an agency of the Government. BSAF is a network of those NGOs who work with the children issues. Its geographical coverage is spread over the country. With considerable age, the organization implements two programs. Among a number of activities that the organization performs awareness raising has been addressed through providing training. Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) implements the same two programs in preventing the trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and women. Like the beneficiary and geographical coverage as mentioned earlier, without any physical facility the organization provides a number of services against four categories. Though it could not prioritize the given services and different categories, the given services indicate that it has considered (1) awareness building and (2) mobilizing locally available domestic resources. In its external relations it is affiliated with Action Against Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation of Children (ATSEC).

Bangladesh National Lawyers Association, a national level organization has also considerable age. The organization is registered with a number of agencies of the Government. Considering its age it appears that the number of beneficiaries and programs are small. This may be due to the very characteristics of the organization. It implements its programme throughout Bangladesh. Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association also addresses its concerns about the trafficking in and sexual exploitation of children and women. It implements two programs with male beneficiaries more than the female beneficiaries and almost equal number of boys and girls child. It implements its programme in a very considerable number of geographical areas. With inadequate physical facilities, BNWLA provides a good number of services against all the six categories where it indicates that the organization stressed importance on the consciousness raising and mobilizing locally available domestic resources. The organization does not consider any area as low risk or no risk zones in its working area. A number of organizations work within a closer distance to its working areas. With considerable age, the organization has also considerable number of beneficiaries. It implements three programs in only one thana of the capital city. Further to this, the respective programme has also small number of beneficiaries. On questions of trafficking in and sexual exploitation the organization has only one programme but appears to address the beneficiaries in the same area. Without adequate physical facilities it provides a few services against three categories. It could not prioritize the said categories and services but consciousness raising and mobilizing the locally available domestic resources are central to the organization. It could not mention trafficking zones and route in its working areas, Nor could mention the name of organizations or agencies working within a closer distance to its working areas. On questions of preventing trafficking in and sexual exploitation of children and women, Centre for Women and Children Studies (CWCS) has given emphasis on a single programme. One striking thing is that the organization conducts training for the law-enforcing agency (police). Though it has mentioned one programme, it provides a number of services against four different categories. The organization has prioritized the given services with varied dimensions. It does not have adequate physical facilities. CWCS has simply mentioned the name of two districts as high-risk zones in its working areas. A number of organizations work within a closer distance from its working areas. Brief Description:

Dhaka Ahsania Mission is a national level organization that implements a number of programme for its beneficiaries. The number of beneficiaries is very significant with female beneficiaries several times more than the males. It implements its programme in a significantly wider geographical area. Among the different activities that it performs consciousness raising through education and training is give very importance by the organization. Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) implements one programme to contain the trafficking in, and sexual abuse of children and women that addresses 3300 families. It implements its programme in a very considerable geographical area. With very adequate physical facilities the organization also provides a very good number of services against all the six categories. Though the organization could not prioritize the given services and different categories but the given services indicate (1) consciousness raising and (2) mobilizing local community people are given prime importance by the organization. It also considers repatriation and rehabilitation as important areas to implement. It has mentioned a number of districts and thanas as high risk zones but could not mention low risk and no risk zones in its working areas. A very good number of organizations work closer to its working areas. In its external relations it is also affiliated with a good number of networks.

Brief Description:

Karmojibi Kallayan Sangstha (KKS) is a local level organization located at Goalanda, Rajbari. KKS is running a safe home, supported by Save the Children Australia for the children of the prostitutes and it runs a few schools for the children of sex workers. They are also working on the issue of Child and Women Trafficking. KKS is also running a programme for distressed children who worked at launch, ferry ghat and railway station. KKS has established a basic primary school called "Sramojibi Shishu Bidyalaya" at Daulatdia ghat. The children (daily labour) have been reading, writing and enjoying cultural programmes and sports. They provide primary education.

A national level organization, Nari Maitree has very considerable age. It is registered with a number of agencies of the Government. In consonance with its age, the organization has very significant number of beneficiaries in a number of districts who receive the services of a number of programs. Among diverse activities that the organization performs, awareness building through training has been given adequate importance. Though the other programs address very significant number of beneficiaries, Nari Maitree implements two programs addressing considerably less number of adult male and female beneficiaries without any boys and girls child. It implements its programs in considerably less geographical areas. With certain physical facilities, the organization provides a number of services virtually against two different categories. It could not prioritize the given services and different categories but the given services indicate that the organization prefers consciousness raising followed by peoples' mobilization. It has mentioned a number of high-risk zones. But considering the distance from the trafficking route, the low risk zone that it has mention are also within the reach of traffickers' influence. A number of organizations work closer to its working areas and high-risk zones of the organization. Brief Description:

A national level organization works with two dimensions: (1) it provides support services, and (2) it also implements Programmes related to children issues. The organization was of very recent past (1997), as such is yet to flourish quite considerably in its programmatic coverage. It usually intervenes to increase the consciousness of the people on sanitation and also provides training to women beneficiaries. The organization limited its geographical coverage to three city corporations. Resource Bangladesh implements Programmes related to preventing trafficking in and sexual exploitation of children and women. It stressed on the social mobilization of the community people, and to enhance the same implements different activities such as: rally, meetings, workshop that increase the awareness of the people on the concerned issue. The implementation of Programmes is also confined to three different city corporations where the general Programmes are implemented. Though the organization provides support services, does not have adequate physical facility to render the same. The organization has given strongest emphasis on a single category where four services were given the most important considerations. It has also given comparatively less emphasis on two more categories (consciousness raising and information dissemination) with significant importance against certain services of those two categories. In its working areas there are certain high-risk zones of trafficking in, and sexual exploitation of children and women. Though mentioned that there are low risk zones in its working areas are not far away from the trafficking route. It could not mention name other organizations or agencies but claims that there are a good number of organizations and agencies in its working areas but differ in their Programmes and activities. United Development Initiative for Programmed Action (UDDIPAN) is involved with the concerns of trafficking in and sexual exploitation of children and women through implementing a number of programs. It implements two programs addressing a considerable number of beneficiaries in a considerably geographical areas. With adequate physical facilities, the organization provides a number of services against two categories. It could not prioritize the categories and the services. But the given services indicate that the organization stresses on consciousness building and mobilizing locally available opportunities. A good number of organizations work at a closer distance to its high risk villages.
